Wakame Seaweed
Wakame seaweed has a slight sea flavor, reminiscent of oysters. It is brownish-yellow and golden in color, turning green when cooked. It has a crunchy, meaty texture and an elongated shape.
This seaweed is high in fiber, a source of protein, and very low in fat. It can be served raw or blanched and dressed in salads. It is an excellent accompaniment to meat, fish, and seafood in general, or crumbled over biscuits and cakes.
Porto-Muiños is a family business run by husband and wife Antonio Muíños and Rosa Mirás. In 1998, they began processing seaweed and selling it in dried or canned form. Today, their products can be found in powdered, salted, and fresh forms, with the latter being particularly successful. Antonio and Rosa have built the success of their company on the study and dissemination of the organoleptic characteristics of seaweed.
